Arundel Town Hall Weddings Jenny and Damian

This was my first ever wedding at the beautiful Arundel Town Hall. Arundel is a olde worlde West Sussex town, dominated by the magical Arundel Castle that sits at the top of the hill looking out across the Sussex countryside below.

Jenny and Damian chose to be married at Arundel Town Hall and as we had a dry day, her plan to walk up the steep hill from her Mum’s house to the ceremony worked out well. The ceremony room at Arundel Town Hall is amazing. High ceilings, lots of character and atmosphere and superb light! What more could a wedding photographer want?

Following the ceremony the guests enjoyed drinks in Arundel Town Hall before we all set off to South Stoke out in the countryside.

South Park was the setting for a blessing in the ancient church and Jenny and Damian’s reception which was held in a beautiful old barn on the edge of the farm. The view that opened up as we dropped into South Stoke was breathtaking; perfect for some wonderful photographic opportunities.

After waiting for everyone to arrive, we walked through the hamlet to the church for the blessing of their marriage. Then it was back to the barn for the wedding “afternoon tea”.

The speeches had a Star Wars theme (4th May wedding) and then it was downstairs for the games that had been laid on. Guests enjoyed Scalextric and bowling, while a magician did the rounds to entertain and amuse. To cap it all off there was also a traditional Punch and Judy show before the first dance.

Jenny and Damian met at a Salsa class and this was the theme of their first dance. I then slipped away to photograph a magnificent deep red sunset.

Eastbourne Grand Hotel is one of my favourite wedding venues. It is a magical place to work. Its blend of elegance, stunning architecture and fabulous warm welcome go together to ensure that every wedding i have covered there has been one to remember.

Harriet and Oliver chose to be married at the stunning Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church in the centre of Eastbourne, East Sussex. Inside the church it is a real gem, with a cathedral-like feel. The long aisle adds to the drama of any ceremony.

Following the wedding ceremony we drove up onto the South Downs to get a view across the town, looking to the sea beyond. It was rather blustery up there so we didn’t stay for long!

The a drink’s reception followed in the Princes’ Room; an extremely elegant and airy part of the Eastbourne Grand Hotel. The guests enjoyed champagne and canapes as a string quartet played.

Harriet and Oliver wanted a relaxed approach to their special day. This is where Eastbourne Grand Hotel comes into its own. At this venue it is easy to photograph any family groups without having to drag them away from the party for too long. These were done quickly on the putting lawn in front of the hotel, before i took the couple off for 5 minutes to create a few special images inside this fabulous venue.

After the shots of the couple and family i slipped up to the Compton Room to document the layout and details, which is always an important part of my coverage. Then with the help of my good friend, Toastmaster Stephen Hall, we got all the guests out onto the putting lawn for a quick “big group” shot before he called them to the wedding breakfast
